The Big Book Cover Reveal

I get so happy when you comment that you can't wait to read my book. First of all, I'm still kind of amazed that I wrote a book that people will be able to read. But also, I think it is just so sweet that you've said it without knowing a single thing about the title or the story. I've been pretty tight lipped about it. Up to this point, it's pretty much just been me and my manuscript. My mom read it in it's infancy when it was super rough. Then, beta readers, my publisher and editor, but that's it. I wrote this thing alone and I didn't tell anyone I was doing it. In my first mention of it here on my blog I'd already been working on it for nine months. My online peeps have been hearing about it for years, but to this day, very few people in my life even know I wrote a book. It's so cute, but my husband has mentioned my book to more people than I have. Nobody at work knows. Writing this novel has been my baby, my passion, and also my secret for so long. The time has finally come to share, and I'm terrified. That was always the goal, even when I wasn't sure I could even write a book but I didn't realize how scary it would be.

So let me tell you a little bit about the cover and how it came to be. The cover artist had me fill out a questionnaire to get a sense about content, and what I wanted for my cover. A really helpful activity he requested, is browsing covers of other books in my genre to get a sense of what was out there, and what I liked. I wasn't thrilled with the original cover he came back with. MJ, my mom, and sisters liked it, but it didn't fit what I pictured in my head. I gave him some ideas about what I saw for my cover, and he came back with exactly what I envisioned. I very much appreciated his patience with me, because there was quite a bit of back and forth tweaking. I felt demanding, but at the same time this is important and it had to feel just right.

Once the cover was finalized I saved a copy to my iPad so I could see how it would look whenever it became an actual ebook. I looked at it repeatedly because it was so exciting to see my name on a book cover. It made the whole thing feel so real.

And finally....the description. Up to now, I would just describe it as a girl in her twenties trying to find herself. So generic I know, but it's been really really hard for me to tell anybody. Without further ado, this is the official description.

I understand it may not be everyone's cup of tea (and that's okay), but I hope you might still want to give it a chance, because you've been hearing about this dang book of mine for years, if nothing else!

The main character is in her twenties so I think that classifies it as New Adult if you want to get super technical, but I'm not really sure that you do because when you fall down the rabbit hole of all the new sub types it gets pretty confusing. Upmarket, is a relatively new genre that falls in between Literary, and Commercial fiction. You pretty much need an info graphic to understand the difference between each. I found one. You can see it here, and it suggests my book is Upmarket, but without getting to technical, let's just call Women's Fiction—Contemporary.

The official release date is November 5th, 2018. It will be released as an eBook and paperback. The eBook is currently available for pre-order only.

If you have a Goodreads account I'd love it if you marked my book WANT TO READ or add it to one of your bookshelves. Also feel free to share it to Pinterest, Facebook, and Twitter via their super handy dandy share it links. If you follow me there, I'll follow you back. I only have like two friends. You can also check out my super fancy website here.

My publisher provided me with promotional advanced reader copy eBooks in pdf, mobi (kindle) and epub for sharing (in limited quantities). I would love to send some out in hopes that you will enjoy it and consider writing a review. If this is the kind of book you usually like and you would be interested in receiving a free eBook copy, please comment below and let me know which format you want. Both pdf versions and mobi versions can be emailed to your Amazon account for reading on Kindle or the iPad for Kindle app. The mobi version will have all the functionality of Kindle. The pdf won't, but can still be read via Kindle or any device you find most convenient. I have to be honest, I have no idea how you'd use epub.

Things are getting real. I'm excited and so grateful for the online cheering section following me on this journey.

Cece, sh*t is getting real and I'm so excited for you!!
Your story sounds amazing, and I'd love to be one of your early readers/reviewers. I'm an avid Kindle user, so a mobi file would work best.

I know how scary and unsettling this part of the process is, but try to enjoy it without worrying too much! (I know, easier said than done.)
You've accomplished what most people only talk/dream about, which is not only talking about writing a book *one day*, but actually writing it.
High five!
